EQS Engineering Technologist - Nisku

Kings Energy Services manufacturing department is excited to be adding to its dynamic, culture driven team. Kings is currently seeking its next team member to fill the role of a EQS Mechanical Engineering Technologist based out of our Nisku, Alberta branch. This is a permanent full-time position.

This is a safety sensitive position - the successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Position Summary:

The EQS Engineering Technologist will be responsible for completing inspections, assembling, and conducting testing for equipment being recertified. EQS Engineering Technologist will ensure compliance to codes, practices QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications. Dividing their time between the office and the production area of the company the EQS Engineering Technologist will ensure that all inspections and testing is documented.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Take direction and fulfil responsibilities from the EQS Lead and Project Engineer

  • Acting QCI through inspection and testing ensuring specification

  • Writing specifications and performing calculations by applying industry, and code accepted practices.

  • Provide technical support to staff members

  • Maintain the current QMS as it relates to manufacturing and service

  • Enhance and improve the QMS program as new requirements materialize

  • Completing 2D and 3D modelling and drawings and P & IDs where needed

  • Start, maintain and complete job orders using the ERP and inventory program.

  • Successfully resolve customer issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Continually update product knowledge and applications. Stay informed and educated as it relates to product specifications and applications.

  • Assist customers in understanding product applications in order to provide a best solution and value-added approach.

  • Solicit feedback from subordinates, peers, and other team members with the goal of continued personal and operational improvement.

  • Manage workflow to assist staff in balancing priorities, providing backup support if needed and otherwise ensuring that all work is accomplished with an appropriate sense of urgency.

  • Assist with document control procedures.

  • Develop procedures for job processes.

  • Work closely with the EQS Lead and Project Engineer with evaluation, monitoring, and reporting of required reporting and KPIs

  • Evaluate and maintain all records associated with the manufacturing processes for the purpose of related departments, auditable records, monthly reporting KPIs

  • Initiate Nonconformance reports where inventoried, purchased, manufactured, serviced product or services do not meet Purchase Order, Contract, Work Order requirements

  • Assists in updating and continuous improvement of organization QMS, HSE, ERP system.

  • Demonstrate and emphasize safety conscience attitude.

Role Requirements:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology is a must.

  • Experience with Solidworks is considered an asset, but not required.

  • Engineers in Training (EIT) will be considered for role

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Strong computer skills; MS office suite proficient.

  • Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints, managing time effectively and efficiently.

  • Has a high degree of mechanical aptitude.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work within complex, fast-moving work environment under minimal supervision.

  • Willingness to take hands on process improvement

  • Ability to be challenged and to strive for development within the position with the foresight and commitment to advance within the company

  • Advanced Participation in Safety Program and Quality Assurance Program.

  • Ability to work as a positive contributing member within team environment.

  • Maintain high level of confidentiality and accuracy.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Exceptional problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to be creative and come up with unique ideas and solutions.

  • Functional understanding of imperial and metric systems.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
