Our Manufacturing department is excited to be adding to its dynamic, fun and culture-driven team. Kings is currently seeking its next committed team member to fill the role of an Apprentice or Journeyman Welder based out of our Red Deer, Alberta branch. This is a permanent full-time position.
Position Summary: The Welder responsible for welding fittings (including valves and drilling equipment), piping and vessels. This individual will be able to work on projects with little supervision. They will operate appropriate equipment according to customer or employer specifications by putting together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision.
Position Responsibilities:
Operate the welding equipment in a safe manner
Produce strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent
Follow procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures for the welding process
Ensure that only calibrated tools and equipment are used
Maintain/produce a level of output that will minimize production delays
Maintain an orderly work area
Communicate effectively with other workers in the manufacturing department
Assist other individuals in area when needed.
Evaluate and maintain all records associated with in process orders to maintain traceability of materials as required
Demonstrate and emphasize a safety conscience attitude
Travel to other branch locations
Other tasks as they are assigned
We Are on the Search For:
Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with good penetration and a quality appearance as well as carbon and stainless steel
Skill to operate propane, natural gas and acetylene torches
Capability to lift 50 pounds
Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead
Demonstrated understanding of QHSE Procedures that relate to the Manufacturing functions
Demonstrated ability to effectively work within complex, fast-moving work environment under minimal supervision
Ability to work as a positive contributing member within team environment
Familiar with applicable design code requirements
Experience with reading tape measures, angle finders, blueprint drawings and cut lists
Understanding of fractions and angles
Problem-solving and organizational skills
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
2nd or 3rd year Apprentice or Journeyman welder
STT equipment experience is considered an asset
Overhead Crane, Forklift, and Skid Steer certificates an assets.
Working Conditions:
Shop environment.
Very hands-on role with standing for long periods and frequent kneeling, lifting, bending daily.
Steel-toed boots are required.
Annual holiday closures.
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Monday to Friday some overtime and weekends as required.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test as this is considered a safety-sensitive position.
