Branch Lead: Valves - Calgary

Position Brief:

The Branch Lead will be responsible for planning and directing all activities within their delegated branch. This individual is also responsible for the financial performance as well as providing overall leadership of the branch. This position will also plan, implement, and manage areas of responsibility to facilitate continuous improvement and personal growth while supporting company goals, missions, and vision.

 

What you will be responsible for:

  • Take direction and fulfil responsibilities from the Division Manager - Valves.

  • Provide leadership and work with other team members, key customers, and suppliers to solve specific challenges and leverage growth opportunities.

  • Maintain existing contacts as well as cultivate new relationships with customers and suppliers in support of building a favorable company image and increasing sales.

  • Successfully resolve customer issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Facilitate branch operations as it relates to inventory, logistics, security, safety, and quality.

  • Involvement with auditing processes – both routine and periodic self-checks to ensure preparedness for audit requests.

  • Forecast and cost control reporting.

  • Staff management (assisting HR with selection, onboarding, terminations, training, development, disciplinary actions, etc.).

  • Conduct monthly 1-2-1 performance reviews with direct reports.

  • Manage workflow to assist staff in balancing priorities, providing backup support if needed and otherwise ensuring that all work is accomplished with an appropriate sense of urgency.

  • Updating shop manuals and OEM documentation in accordance with company polices and directives, as directed by Head office and Quality department.

  • Ensure that company policies, government procedures, regulation, codes, and manufacturers specifications are followed.

  • Manage quality control issues.

  • Discuss strategies with direct reports and the leadership team to increase efficiencies and identify weaknesses.

  • Assist the Business Development and Operation teams in account management to include joint calls and marketing activities, customer strategies, sales, etc.

  • Travel to site locations, customer, or field offices in support of overall company objectives and or specific customer requirements.

  • Oversee time and attendance for all members of the branch.

  • Ensure the evaluating, monitoring, and reporting of required reporting and KPIs is completed.

  • Initiate Nonconformance reports where product or services do not meet requirements

  • Demonstrate and emphasize a safety conscience attitude

  • A high level of confidentiality and accuracy for company sensitive information.

  • Demonstrated understanding of QHSE Procedures that relate to the Equipment and Valve servicing departments.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Commitment towards a team environment and support of a continuous improvement culture.

  • Willingness to take a hands-on approach in training, providing additional team support and developing systems and procedures.

  • Knowledge with Employment Standards, Human Rights and OHS legislation required.

  • Be flexible with work schedule, may require some late shift and weekend work.

 

Our interest will be piqued by:

  • 5+ years of Management / Leadership and mentoring experience.

  • Experience and knowledge related to equipment repairs for service and drilling rigs, Pressure Safety Valves, Instrument and/or Electrical areas is required or must have the willingness and drive to learn and gain knowledge in areas they do not currently possess.

  • Knowledge in and or experience with API Q1 certification.

  • A valid license and clean driver’s abstract.

  • B.O.P repair experience.

  • Journeyman Machinist or experience focused on Manual machining.

  • Experience with quality systems and processes.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing and or service environment.

  • Successful pass of a pre-employment drug screening test.

 

What you can expect for a working environment:

  • Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Overtime as required to meet operational requirements.

  • Both office and shop setting.

  • Expectations of a hands-on role to assist with servicing requirements in shop.

  • Providing leadership and directions to  valve team members.
